Galaxy Purple

When living in sweden one of the striking things Hala observed was the clear skies with millions and millions of stars in the Galaxy.

This inspired her to create a design for the tapestry Galaxy Purple that became part of the tale of 1001 Scandinavian Nights collection.

Scandinavian night sky tapestry art

The combination of a simplified islamic pattern inspired by the country of her birth, Iraq, including the sparkle of gold or silver to reflect the richness, and the clear Scandinavian skies in the night with the stars resulted in a design for a series tapestries with different modern colors that she calls Galaxy.
She used the modern colors to get a combination of modernized islamic art with a Scandinavian touch.
In cooperation with the Textielmuseum she created this tapestry, while she finished the tapestry herself by hand.
